Atkal Dzimtenē

This publication is dedicated to Aleksandra Dzervite (1904-1996), the Latvian applied arts expert and craftswoman, outstanding needlewoman and teacher. During the 1930s and 1940s, she was a witness to the development of contemporary applied arts in Latvia; however, living n Canada after the Second World War and working with the Union of Latvian Craftsmen, she was able to realize the teachings of her late husband Arvids Dzervitis about 'contemporary uniquely Latvian applied arts.' The main directions of A. Dzervitis professional activities are described, including hand drawn sketches, original compositions and photographs of her creations. Also included is a manuscript of teaching materials, with primary sources from private and family archives.
